Wie viele Producer der Rhein-Main Region, hat M.in sich in den letzten 2-3 Jahren einen weltweiten Ruf erarbeitet. Das FFM-Tag hat er nie genutzt, M.in geht mit ganz eigenem Kopf ans Werk. Der DJ, Produzent und Labelmacher steht für modernen House- und TechHouse, bei dem das Zauberwörtchen ‚Trademark-Sound’ fällt. Ein Ritterschlag in sich… ohne, dass auf M.in Tracks Gleichförmigkeit, gar Minimalismus herrscht.

Der Name M.in spielt mit ‚Minimal’ in sich, doch wer das mit so viel Swing, Groove, Biss, Humor und Musikalität transportiert, der leistet maximales. Die zum selbstzufriedenen Lächeln führende M.in Formel? Denkbar einfach, doch höllenschwer erreichbar. Leicht gesagt, „der Groove muss im Kern alles im Track tragen“ - den Anspruch zu erfüllen, Tracks mit Leben zu füllen, kann man nicht erzwingen. M.ins Credo darf sich jeder Producer annehmen, der die kühle Mathematik elektronischer Produktionen überlisten will, um ihr Seele einzuhauchen. „Für mich muss ein Track eine Stimmung haben“, sagt M.in. Lässt sich abermals unterschreiben, gelingt nur nicht jedem so stimmig wie ihm…

M.in lebt am malerischen Taunus, vor den Toren Frankfurts. Der Blick geht ins Grüne, nicht gen Skyline. Seine Tracks kommen analog dazu naturverbunden, geerdet. Seine schweren, organischen Grooves wirken uplifting. M.in nutzt globale Einflüsse aus Afrobeat, Latin oder dem geliebten, swinging Jazz, paart sie zum straighten Sog der geraden, immer tief sitzenden Bassdrum. Dass er dabei so ziemlich jeden Sound mit in seine gut geerdeten Grooves einbauen kann, spricht für seine musikalische Offenheit, Neugier und Experimentierfreude.

M.ins „New Orleans“ EP mit Bastian Schuster (OFF Rec. 004), sprach früh Bände von M.ins intensivem Flirt mit jazzy Texturen. Sein nicht nur heimlicher Sommerhit „Sing And Blow At The Same Time“ (Desolat) setzte diesen Vibe lautmalerisch um. Samt unerhört fett rumpelnder Kick und fordernder Bassline, an der auch Sven Väth nicht vorbei kam, der den Track rauf und runter spielte. Der internationale Durchbruch mit seiner gleichnamigen EP für Loco Dice Label Desolat war besiegelt. Mit gutem Grund: Was seine Tracks eint, ist exakt, was M.in einfordert. Eine Stimmung! In die man fällt, einen Groove, der ergreift und bewegt. Schlicht, was die Top DJs der Welt suchen, wenn sie mit Beats und Bässen Seelen massieren. Emotionen und special Sounds die man fühlt, nicht nur hört… ergo spielen DJs wie Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Loco Dice, u.v.m. seine Tracks!

M.ins Diskografie ist umfassend. Von Desolat zu Souvenir, Off Rec., Get Physical Music, Robsoul und vielen weiteren. Seine Motto getreue „Lord Teach Me House EP“ für Trapez Ltd. markierte Ende 2010 den Höhepunkt eines guten Jahres, das M.in 2011 toppen will. Ob mit dem eigenen Output oder Tracks seiner eigenen Labels: Weplayminimal (digital) und das Vinyl-Label Komm Mit Musik, betreibt er, um den Output der künstlerischen ‚family n friends’ zu sichern. M.ins offene musikalische Haltung schlägt sich vielfältig nieder. M.in forscht weiter passioniert an „jazzy stuff“, haut auch mal Tracks raus, die gewagt Styles durchmischen, ungewohnt anmuten, doch dank M.ins mächtigem Beat und sagenhaftem Groove nie Wirkung verfehlen.

So produziert er passend für Jesse Roses swinging Label Play It Down, oder schraubt mit Lenny Kravitz Saxofonist Harold Todd an Killer-Kombis. Mit ihm hat er für einen exklusiven Remix der Thomas Schumacher Relaese „The Ooh“ auf Get Physical Music gesorgt. Studioarbeiten gibt es daneben von M.in und Jonas (aka Mucky Pups / Saved Records, Snatch!), mit Patrick Kunkel oder Frankfurts Techno-Legende Patrick Lindsey. Mit letzterem remixte M.in Radioslave, Marc Romboy und addierte Systematic Recordings und das traditionelle OM Records zu seiner prallen Release-Liste.

Ob mehr House oder eher Techno im Sound Pate steht, ob er produziert oder traditionsbewusst Vinyl rockt, es ist und bleibt für M.in immer ein „spiritual thing“. Und das ist heute mehr denn je international. So bringt der fühlbare Vibe seiner fordernden Musik ihn um die Welt. Wöchentliche Gigs in Deutschland und Europa wechseln sich mit Highlights wie der Brasilientour ab. Dabei ist das Ende der Entwicklung längst nicht da. In 2011 arbeitet M.in am ersten Longplayer, der seine Position als unzähmbaren kreativen Geist, Sympathikus, Beathustler und connecta nutzt. Sänger, Live-Pianist, Sax-Player, Percussionisten und weitere will und wird M.in zusammenbringen, um der Maschinensprache das organische anbei zu stellen und seinen perkussiven Groove auf neue Ebenen zu katapultieren. Tribal, jazzy, verspielt, schräg oder wie auch immer, Musik mit einer „obsession for smiling faces"!

Hailing from Germany’s prolific Rhein-Main area, Frankfurt’s M.in gained his momentum as global player over the last 2-3 years. As producer, DJ and label head his modern house and techhouse-style clearly owes to the Frankfurt heritage, yet M.in never claimed that promotional tag. He’s sitting firmly in the driver’s seat when it comes to his very own style. You can easily dub his beats trademark, bowing to the craftsmanship M.in has developed and refined with his dozens of releases.

His artist name playfully quotes the minimalism that ruled for long time in German electronics. In fact, M.ins tracks are far from minimal. The only minimal formulae is his credo demanding “the groove to carry the whole track from the core”. From there on, anything can happen! And M.in is known to churn out tracks that conquer hearts and souls with various ingredients: groove, swing, bite, humour and musicality. „Every track has to have a vibe first““, he says. Well, easy to sign that partition... yet hard to accomplish the task M.in so easily masters.

M.in’s tracks flow organic and uplifting. With influences from Afrobeat, Latin or his beloved swinging jazz, teaming up with that straight draw of a mighty lowered kick drum and bass. M.in can pair any sound with his down to earth grooves, showcasing open mindedness, curiosity and the sheer lust to experiment with uncommon sounds. Early on, M.in’s “New Orleans“ EP w/ Bastian Schuster (OFF Rec. 004) spoke of his intensive flirt with jazzy textures. „Sing And Blow At The Same Time“ – for Loco Dice’s Desolat – followed that trail and became more than a secret summer hit, being played by Sven Väth a lot. Only fair… for what unites his output is exactly what he claims: that certain vibe of a track, a vibe that draws you in, makes you move and groove and sets u in a distinct mood. Just, what the top notch DJs of our world look for in a potent track for their set. No wonder, the likes of Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice or Sven Väth massaged their client’s souls and soles with beats and bass from Mister M.in!

His discography remains to become bulky. From Desolat to Souvenir, Off Rec., Get Physical Music, Robsoul und many more. His humorous motto EP „Lord Teach Me House“, for Cologne’s traditional Trapez imprint, marked another highlight for M.in at the end of 2010. This year, he is set to raise the stakes. Whether with his own output or tracks of his musical family n friends on his own labels: Weplayminimal (digital) and Vinyl Label Komm Mit Musik. M.in’s open view on club music sees him investigate further into the jazzy field in 2011. Producing for Jesse Rose’s swinging Label Play It Down, or jamming in the studio with Lenny Kravitz’ saxophone player Harold Todd. With Harold, M.in did an exclusive remix for Thomas Schumacher’s release „The Ooh“ (Get Physical Music). In the studio M.in also teams up with Jonas (as Mucky Pups / Saved Records, Snatch!) or Frankfurt’s techno legend Patrick Lindsey. With the latter one he remixed Radioslave and Marc Romboy, adding Systematic Recordings and OM Records to his immaculate discography.

Whether it is more house or techno, whether M.in produces or rocks the worldwide clubs with Vinyl Only, his sound remains a „spiritual thing“. And that is indeed today’s currency for worthwhile club sounds. Thus, M.in’s playful and viby sounds sent him round the world lately Weekly gigs in Germany and across Europe got topped by his Brazil Tour 2010. In 2011 he will rewind that experience. Also, he is working on his first artist album which will of course paint an even bigger picture of housemusic. The sampling days are more and more over and M.in is working on that album with live vocalists, live piano and sax player, percussionists and more. This will transcend his percussive and demanding grooves to another level. Tribal, jazzy, playful, weird or whatever, music with an „obsession for smiling faces"!
